Random peer selection algorithm in peer-to-peer game? -


i'm developing poker game iphone/ipad uses apple's matchmaking service. i'll using client-server topology dealer server. each hand there new server/dealer. however, before initial dealer/server selection, game uses peer-to-peer topology, leaves me dilemma.

how players/peers agree on 1 random peer initial dealer/server, , efficiently?

i'm troubleshooting own method have each peer broadcast random number. after numbers have been received, sorted , peer lowest number initial dealer. however, issues i'm having (duplicate numbers, etc) have prompted me find better solution.

any appreciated.

you need learn paxos algorithm (i.e., election of leader).
